Summary

Foundations of HIV/Aids: Causes and Impact mark the beginning of a career pathway as a series of courses in the comprehensive study about HIV/AIDS. This course explores the history of HIV and how it came to spread across boundaries. It does so by describing what HIV is and associated terminology. It looks at how it affects the immune system, ways of transmission, prevention strategies, diagnosis and management of the disease. Within these focus areas are the factors that affect the management thereof. This course aims to equip the learner with the necessary knowledge to be able to address HIV/AIDS-related issues differently and according to scientific facts and not mere speculations. It provides the learner with a comprehensive understanding of what the disease is and how to manage it. This will allow the learner to be better informed when applying their knowledge in the real world.
